What should I wear?

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Layers are always a good idea as you can adjust from hot to cold and vice versa. We practise yoga in bare feet but you can buy ‘barefoot’ socks that allow you to grip the mat. You should also bring socks and a jumper for relaxation at the end.

What do I wear on my feet?

We don’t have many rules at Sandwickhill Studios but one thing we’re a little obsessed with is our specialist dance floors. Please only wear indoor shoes in both studios. Not only do we want to keep the floors in great condition but also bear in mind that other users of the studio, especially our kids dance classes, stretch, sit and dance on the floor so we want to keep it clean for them. Although the floor is cleaned every day, outdoor shoes bring in dirt which quickly becomes ingrained in a class such as zumba, and might also bring grit or small stones which can damage the floor. You don’t have to buy special shoes but please change your shoes on arrival before heading into the studio (we’ve got bench seating especially for this purpose!).

What should I bring?

Yourself and your biggest smile! Water! Stay hydrated folks!

Mat classes: please bring a mat if you have one. We have spares at the studio but we think it’s nice to create a space just for you if possible. Get in touch if you need mat advice. We have a range for sale at the studio.

Yoga classes: you may wish to bring a blanket for relaxation, especially during the winter months. You may also wish to bring your own props e.g. bolster, blocks, straps (all non-essential).

Please try to keep other belongings to a minimum. We have spaces in the studio for essentials, and in our corridor for jackets and shoes, but we recommend not bringing valuables.

Do you have parking?

We have parking for 24 cars: turn left after the Studio entrance. The spaces at the front are for those with limited mobiliity or with disabilities – please only use these if you need them. There is also 1 staff space.

I'm brand new - what happens when I arrive?

We have a busy timetable, so if you arrive very early you may not get into class straight away. Please wait in the reception area until your teacher lets you in. You can use this time to change shoes or clothes.

Can I change or shower at the studio?

Yes! We have 3 showers in individual cubicles (perfect for post hot yoga pre-Friday drinks or for those early mornings before work). We also have individual unisex changing and toilets.

How do I take part in a livestream online class?

We run our livestream classes through Zoom. When you book an individual class you’ll receive a Zoom link. If you’re new to Zoom you can familiarise yourself with the programme ahead of class. It can be operated through an app or browser

Do I need to keep my camera on?

No, but we do love to see our participants so we’d encourage you to do so if you’re comfortable with that. The instructor will be spotlighted for each class so you’ll be looking at them rather than other participants. If for any reason you’d prefer to have it switched off, that’s totally okay too.

What else do I need to know?

We ask participants to hit mute when class starts. We’d also ask that you use the chat facility to communicate any medical conditions or concerns with the teacher – you can privately message them at the beginning of class.

Covid Guidelines

We can’t wait to see you but we ask that, before booking or coming along to class, you familiarise yourself with these Covid guidelines. We are doing our best to make the experience as safe as possible (for staff and participants) and we ask that you help us out by following these guidelines.

  • Please use the hand sanitiser provided at doors as you enter.
  • Please arrive dressed for class (if possible) – we are trying to limit time in changing rooms / communal areas.
  • No outdoor shoes are allowed in the studio spaces.
  • Please arrive as close to start time as possible – we often have a busy cleaning schedule between classes which means we can’t usually bring you in earlier, even if studio is empty.
  • We’ll aim to open the doors 5 mins before class.
  • All over 5s should wear a mask when moving around communal areas. Participants do not need to wear masks during class but can if they wish.
  • Please observe social distancing in all communal areas, when entering and leaving the building.
  • We have a 1 way system place – we ask that you follow this as guided by tutor.
  • We have allocated storage areas in each studio for valuables but our regular coat hooks are not in use right now.
  • As windows will be open as much as possible for ventilation please ensure your child has an extra layer.
  • Please bring filled water bottle – our water refill point is not in use at the moment. No juice in studios.
  • If you are unwell or displaying any Covid-related symptoms, please do not come to the studio. Many classes are  simultaneously online so that you can take part from home if needs be.
  • If you or any of your household show Covid related symptoms please follow government guidelines.
  • Please ensure that you have booked and entered all of your details online. This will enable us to keep clear records of everyone who is coming into the building and to implement Track and Trace if required.
  • Staff will maintain social distancing at all times. This will change the way that we teach and what we are able to offer at present.
  • We have one toilet available at present which is regularly cleaned.
  • We will be cleaning touch points, shared equipment and floors between classes and using an anti-viral fogger every night.

Kids’ classes only
  • Under 12s are allowed to interact with each other almost as normal but they must maintain distance from teachers – please remind them of this.
  • Over 12s must maintain physical distancing at present.
  • Parents can not enter the building at present – please make any enquiries by phone or email.
  • All kids over 5 should wear a mask.
