Flow yoga, also know as Vinyasa yoga, involves moving through a series of postures in a dynamic way, flowing with the breath from one pose to the next. Poses and sequences will vary from class to class and teacher to teacher. It is one of the most popular yoga styles in the Western world.
Moving with the breath can help find clarity and focus, building heat in the body can improve flexibility and typically a flow class will involve postures and transitions that build inner and outer strength. Despite the dynamic element of these classes they also usually incorporate longer holds, and opportunities to find presence and peace. It is this balance of movement and stillness, ying and yang, effort and ease, that helps create a feeling of deep relaxation.
